An Introduction to Martin Gilbert
Martin Gilbert is a relative newcomer to the world of art. Formerly being involved at a senior level in the development arena of the IT industry, Martin finally decided to make use of his more creative side by giving up work and developing his former hobby into a new and far more rewarding career as an artist. Martin accepts commissions on a wide range of subjects including portraits (human and animal) cars, motorcycles, landscapes etc. But his real passion has always been aviation, particularly 'Warbirds'. He prides himself on capturing the spirit of aviation with a combination of dramatic portrayals and classic views. His eye for detail is obvious as can be seen in the three prints being offered for sale here.
Two prints are a view of 'Little Kitty' Peter's P40M Kittyhawk. The third is the P51D Mustang "Jumpin' Jacques". The first painting is a traditional view which depicts Peter landing the Kittyhawk at Old Warden (Home to the Shuttleworth Collection) on a beautiful spring day this print is entitled 'Happy Landings' while the second is a more dramatic view called ‘Little Kitty’, in this view the aircraft is flying low over trees and seemingly emerging from the canvas. The third of the Mustang is entitled "Fury of the Ether". Each print is limited to only 500 of each worldwide and is signed and numbered by the artist Martin himself. They are each 53cm (21") wide by 43cm (17") high allowing for a border for mounting and framing purposes. The prints cost £55.00 each plus £5.00 postage and packing. For each print sold via hangar11.co.uk a donation will be made of £10.00 to a charity of Peters choosing.
