Private Wedding - October 2008

Hi Peter

I just wanted to send a quick note before we depart for SA to say a massive thank you for THE most awesome display I have ever witnessed. As you have probably gathered I am a bit of an aeroplane geek and as a result have been to hundreds of airshow’s in my time. The way you displayed the beautiful Spitfire was stunning. It was a real privilege to see a Spit so close up whilst actually airborne.

Your display was the highlight of the whole weekend and a talking point for the rest of the day. I think some people actually forgot they were at a wedding! On return from honeymoon I will get a disc with some photos across to you in the post. I have had a sneak preview and the aircraft looks stunning. Thank you whole heartedly for making a great day, truly amazing.

Many thanks and Best Regards

Steven and Emma xx

September 2008- RAF Chicksands Bedford

I am writing to offer my sincere thanks on behalf of the DISC Warrant officers and Sergeants Mess for your Spitfire display for our 2008 Battle of Britain function.

Your display was a poignant and magnificent sight over the Mess and helped enormously in creating the correct ambience for the function, which was held celebrate the Royal Air forces finest hour

Please pass on my thanks to all the personnel who contributed in any way towards facilitating the display. For the Royal Air force personnel it was certainly a very memorable moment and one which we will all cherish for many years to come,

Tony Booth ( Flight Sergeant for officer commanding  DISC Chicksands )

Spitfire Display at North Weald – September 2008

Dear Peter

I have a feeling that your display in PL 965 last Wednesday was a special tribute to Jimmy and Ron and all the members of No.16 Squadron past a present.

I could only hazard a guess at the thoughts running through Jimmy’s mind but on several occasions I could sense he was in the cockpit with you, perhaps reliving the times he flew the PR Spitfires in earnest against the enemy over the water. I will never be able to comprehend what it must have been like flying alone in a single engined aircraft over enemy territory and with no means of defence except your own skills and keen sense of self preservation.

But last Wednesday, I hope you will take this as a compliment but I have always regarded Ray Hanna as the ultimate (display) pilot of a Spitfire but after your display on Wednesday I think even he would have been “hard put” to match it.

Thank you from everyone who was present for such a superb display ; I only feel sorry for those who were not there to witness your craft.

Lewis E Deal MBE

(Chairman MAPS)

P.S.  I strongly believe that you have all the credentials to have been a PR pilot !

Private Wedding - June 2008
"Dear Peter, I wanted to write to you now that we are back from our honeymoon to thank you for the amazing flying display given over our wedding reception on 31 May. Our guests at first, as we hadn’t told them, jumped out of their skins on the first flypast and within seconds were fully enthused by the stunning aerial show. At one point, I took my eyes off the aircraft for just a millisecond to view our guests and to a person each one was holding cameras held high as you made yet another breath-taking pass.
For the museum folks in the know, we also found this a moving tribute to view a lone Spitfire, and one with such a distinguished service record, where it belongs, against the clouds and blue sky. We’ve seen so many over the years stuck on a pole, or in boxes of bits, but you wowed everybody.
My great uncle flew Mosquito NightFighter13’s and was shot down near Bordeaux in June of 44 shortly after D-day so the  display held a great family significance for us too. It was absolutely amazing, and will never be beaten in our lifetimes! Again – our heartfelt thanks for making the day one that we, or our guests,  will never forget and long may she remain airworthy and thrill others in the same way!
Our very best wishes" – Gavin and Vicky - Bride and Groom

Ferrari Owners Club - July 2008
"Dear Peter, Just wanted to say that your display was very special - apart from anything else it is a wonderful thing to see an aircraft like yours and also and particularly, to know the guy who is flying it and flying it with such aplomb!  The whole crowd were spellbound and Richard Allen who is old enough to have seen Spitfires flying at the end of the war was quite overcome with emotion. I also know that the weather made life a little harder - many thanks, a beautiful end to a difficult day, you are a star!!

Peter Everingham - Secretary Ferrari Owners' Club

Henlow Display - June 2008

"Peter,
We were all very impressed that you managed to depart Sywell with the weather and all.

Your display was awesome.  Watching were some very senior citizens who, I later learned, were very well acquainted with the Spitfire and had flown various marks in the war. Some of them had tears running down their faces while they clapped and cheered throughout the display.  Your timing to pick the only weather window of the evening was absolutely perfect - the low scud cleared shortly before you arrived and it started to rain five minutes after you left!!

Every part of your display showed off the beautiful lines of the Spitfire and, the sound of that Merlin - wow!! The whole display made our RAF 90th anniversary celebration complete.  You helped turn a great evening into an outstanding success. Well done you." - Robin Braithwaite - Event Organiser

Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa - April 2008
"On behalf of Elite Hotels may I take this opportunity to thank you for providing such a magnificent finale to the opening celebrations for Luton Hoo Hotel last Friday.  Without question, the Spitfire stole the show with compliments from all who attended for this surprise spectacle.  Undoubtedly, there was somebody looking down on us as the weather cleared just in time to allow the formalities to take place outside.  There is no question that everybody will associate the opening of Luton Hoo with a Spitfire for many years to come.  I am not sure how we will ever be able to repeat the performance but rest assured if there is ever an excuse, we will be in touch." - George Bateman, Managing Director of Elite Hotels

Old Warden - October 2007
"I have been going to Old Warden now for literally over 35 years now, and the P-51, "Jumpin Jacques" display late last year there, is the best solo display, I have ever seen there, and much better than the Gathering of Mustangs, could offer the week before in Columbus. Great to see a P-51, flown how it should be, low and fast." - Neil Burrows

Seething Charity Air Day - 2007
"Dear Peter, I do hope you don’t mind but I asked Ann-Margaret for your email address as I would just like to say on behalf of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, thank you for the magnificent display that you put on at the Seething Charity Air Day on 23rd September, myself and my volunteer watched in awe. It really was amazing and gave me goose-bumps just watching it.
Thank you once again from everybody here at the Air Ambulance." - Emma Flatt, North, South & East Norfolk Deputy Fundraising Coordinator

Rougham Airshow - 2007
"Peter, A quick note to say many thanks for a truly superb display with the Kittyhawk last Sunday, it really was inspirational, the more so because the conditions were not the best to say the least!
Thanks also for your tenacity in getting to us in the first place which resulted in such an important contribution to the show." - Peter Eager, Display Director.

Oldtimer Airshow Hahnweide - 2007
"Peter, I hope you're well at home!
I thank you very much for your marvellous displays here at Hahnweide! All participant and visitors have been enthusiastic about your show. And I`m still proud that you visit our Oldtimer Meeting!
I hope you enjoy the Hahnweide 2007? The next meeting will be at the weekend 4th to 6th of September 2009! Would you be so kind to mark it in your calender?:-)" - Hans Puskeiler Airshow director.

Old Warden - Shuttleworth Collection - 2007
"Dear Mr. Teichman.
I was present at the last Old Warden show and I would like to congratulate you on what I consider to be the best Spitfire display I have ever had the privelege to witness. A sublime mixture of grace and power showed off this beautiful aircraft to the greatest possible advantage.
Although no photographer, your display enabled me to take the image attached. Though not up to the standards of some of the images on your site I feel some justification in a certain pride as I think it captures the lines of the aircraft well and has provided me with a wonderful lasting reminder of that fantastic display.
Thanks again for the wonderful and truly memorable display.
Warmest Regards" - Kevin Mears, Airshow Visitor.

Private Wedding - 2007
"Hi Peter
Just returned from honeymoon and wanted to let you know straight away how completely fantastic the display was. All the guest were so impressed and I thought you gave us even more than our money's worth – everyone loved it. We were so lucky with the weather and in the end you had the perfect backdrop of blue sky with stunning cumulus clouds to the side. I hope you made your second engagement of the evening in the mustang and the good weather held for you. I would be more than happy to provide a reference for any potential customers you have and persuade them how fabulous the display was and worth every penny. I would still love to fly up to North Weald and see the aircraft up close – are you around at weekends at all I wonder?
Thank you again for a truly brilliant display. It was the icing on the wedding cake!" - Richard, Groom.

Sywell Music In The Air - 2007
"Thanks a million for such a first rate performance on the night, despite everything the system could throw at us. 'JJ' did us proud and went with the two pieces of music like clockwork. As often happens on a good night, some of the more flamboyant manoeuvres coincided with points in the score which might have been written specially for them!". For us in the control room it was a pleasure to watch; well done." - Ross Mallock - Airshow Director

Leeds Castle Open Air Concert - 2007
"Thank you so much for flying for us at the Leeds Castle Open Air Classical Concert. We have received a number of positive comments particularly relating to your aerial display in the kitty hawk. These included "thank you so much for including the kitty hawk. This display added to a perfect evening, and was worth the ticket price alone" and one from a concert goer from France, who said "the aircraft was a highlight of the evening". For us in the control room it was a pleasure to watch; well done." - John Summers - Operations Manager

Private Wedding - 2007
"What an amazing display we had this weekend at the wedding. Twenty minutes of spell binding, thrilling and inspirational flying from the most iconic aircraft of recent history. The Spitfire really engaged the entire crowd both young and old and was the talking point of the wedding from then on. Thank you! " - Annabelle and James

Blenheim Palace Flight to the Past - 2007
"Your display in the Kittyhawk was professionally flown, smooth, safe and within the rules." - Tim Miller - Display Director

East Fortune Airshow - 2007
"Your display was excellent. Did just what it said on the box, right height, used all the angles, been a lot of positive feedback from the crowd who really enjoyed it." - Ray Thilthorpe - Display Director

Tangmere Military Aviation Museum - 2007
"We all here thoroughly enjoyed your wonderful flying display in the Kittyhawk on Sunday. Thanks for such an excellent demonstration of your airmanship" - K.W.Shepherd - Tangmere Military Aviation Museum

Lewes, East Sussex - 2007
"I was in my garden last Sunday - laying back in the grass and enjoying the warmth of the sun breaking through the clouds, when I thought I caught the faint sound of an engine. This sound became a little more urgent the closer it got and as it did so it became clear that it wasn’t the usual Piper or Cessna that wanders by here at the weekends. This engine note had a real snarl to it, a real statement of intent. A second later it came in to view. Wow - it was a Kittyhawk! With its Big Yellow nose art, aggressive spinner and the sun flashing across its canopy. A moment later and it was gone and its engine note had faded across the downs behind our house. Did I really just see a P40 above me or did I just daydream it?

Well I had seen it and I knew where it had come from too. So I thought I would write to you to say thanks for brightening up my Sunday. I couldn’t stop thinking about it all afternoon. It’s great to see your aircraft at an air show but when you are the only one who notices something passing over head and only you know how special it is it somehow makes it more personal. So thanks to your team of pilot’s ground crew and engineers. I know you people love what you do and have enormous fun doing it - long may you guys continue." - Paul Cross

SpitFire FlyPast May 2007
"Dear Peter,
Thank you so much for the flypast. It was just great - perfectly timed. Down on our quayside there were old people in wheelchairs, survivors of the last war, and at the other end of the spectrum many young people . All were so impressed, many confessing to having had tears in their eyes (including me). I don't know if you could see all those old men with flags from where you were. I hope so, we waved to you.

I wondered how sad it is that such a beautiful thing as a Spitfitre could have been designed, basically, to kill people - that's just the tragedy of the human condition.

We hadn't quite expected such a display - the victory rolls were great. When you dived down towards us, you began to feel for the enemy!

I hope you will be at John Anderson's fly in; we shall be there and would really like to meet you and your beauiful Spitfire.

Best wishes and many thanks." - Nick Baker - Event Organiser

Promotion for Sywell Music in the Air
"Maestro!
What a show! You have no idea of the reaction to your sudden appearance (stage right, as we all looked left) this afternoon, as Kirsten started singing on the roof of the hotel. Press people are not usually into jaw-dropping mode but you could have heard all the jaws hit the floor when the time came!
It's always difficult to know how to sell the concept of what we do to a gathering of people but we seem to have hit the spot this time round and I'm sure the effect of today's efforts will be plain for all to see in July.
Your display was just what was wanted but rarely, in my experience, delivered. From all of us on the team, thank you for your appearance today despite all the obstacles and also for your enormous generosity in doing it for a couple of frothy coffees and a tired sandwich!
It will all come right in the end and already we've got the Midlands on the run!
Thanks again from all of us — it was splendid!" - Ross Mallock, Mita Productions Ltd, Organisers of Sywell Music in Flight"

Defford Air Show 2007
"I do not know if you will read this before you display today, but I cannot adequately describe in words the effect your visit to Defford had on the crowd.

From the immediate exodus afterwards it is obvious that you were eagerly anticipated, but the most impressive thing was the hush. All other activities ceased and you enthralled.

For the period you were with us yesterday, a completely different mood was apparent among the spectators. It was wonderful to be there when it happened, and if the Crowd at Cosford get half the effect they will be very happy!

I, and everyone who watched you, offer our sincere thanks." - Giles Herbert

The Wooden Spoon "Dance for Victory" Ball
"I needed a "wow" factor for the evening and you certainly provided it. The whole party were captivated by your display in such restricted conditions." - Malcolm V Foulkes Arnold

"I write on behalf of the people of Woolmer Green....to thank you for putting on an amazing display for us....and as a consequence we had a record turn out for the event. Seething Air Show Norfolk
"Peter and his mark XI closed the Seething 2005 Air Show with an excellent display demonstrating the grace and menace of this beautiful aircraft. No Airshow is complete without a Spitfire and despite some appalling weather and heavy 'on crowd' cross winds, Peter provided a superb finale." - Ian Davies, Show Coordinator

Leicestershire Aero Club Open Day
"Thank you once again for your support in the form of a great Spitfire display for our open day on Sunday August 14th. We had a great many thank you letters from our "neighbours".....all mentioned the Spitfire. Your support has been fantastic and well appreciated by all. Personally I find it quite difficult to chose between the two Spitfire and two Mustang displays which you have undertaken for the Leicestershire Aero Club, all know is that they brightened a lot of peoples days, myself included." - Arthur Eldridge, Chairman

Old Warden Military Pageant 6th August 2006
"Just a quick note to say that it was great to see you and your excellent display yesterday. The display was very fluid and polished and shows the Spit off beautifully - there were a lot of "looook at that" comments going on around me - really, really good display. I was there in an "official" capacity yesterday as I thought Old Warden is something that our members would be interested in hearing about (of course, your display will be included!)." - Martin King (Chairman of the Spitfire Society)

RAF Brize Norton Families Day
"The Brize Norton Families Day provides an opportunity to thank family and friends who provide key support to our personnel and it has become a significant and popular event in the Station's calendar. Your contribution with the Spitfire Display added significantly to its success and your flying display was first class. On behalf of the Station Commander please accept out sincere thanks for your contribution to a most successful event." - Steve Foster-Bazin - Flight Commander

RAF Memorial Project
"Many thanks for the superb display with your Spifire at Eagle Heights on the 22nd July in aid of the Local RAF Memorial Project. As you know we had 14 WWII fighter pilots as our guests of honour and nothing could have made a more fitting "Arial Salute" to them than the growl of a V12 Merlin and the sight of a Spitfire so close above them. It moved some to tears. We have had several e-mails, phone calls and personal thanks all saying what a great day it was, with your appearance being the highlight of the event and all being well we do the same next year. I will certainly take you up on your offer to vist Hanger 11 and hope you will do the same and come to Eagle Heights." - Alan Ames - Organiser

Long may PL 965 grace our skies as she did so superbly last Wednesday. " - Sqdn. Leader Jimmy Taylor 16 Sqdn. RAF

Wing Commander Hartree - RAF Cosford Air Show

Old Warden Military Pageant August 2006
"Congratulations to the pilot of the blue PR Spitfire XI. Beautiful show - flown with great taste and discretion - no over-controlling or unseemly slipping and skidding (combat was different - likewise big boots and flying by numbers). Alex Henshaw must have liked it. (The Gladiator man got good marks from me too.)" - M.Riley (WW2 Spitfire pilot)

Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden
"Dear Peter, It was really good to see you and your Spitfire at the Shuttleworth Display on Sunday. We met and spoke briefly, and I asked you if you knew that Alex Henshaw was at the display. To show off a Spitfire in front of a man who must surely be 'the master' would have been a true honour. I can imagine him looking at the poles with the flags on it held up by the two assistants and then looking at your Spitfire and wondering if he could have gotten it through there inverted! Though I'm sure you have read 'Sigh for a merlin'.......I have to congratulate you on your display. The weather was fantastic - and just right to show off a blue aeroplane with invasion stripes. However, yours was not just a 'stiff' display where you put her through the moves. Your display reminded me of a show many years ago of a French delta jet fighter at RNAS Yeovilton. The commentator praised the pilot for his 'certain elan' as he left the airfield in a style never seen before. (Words I haven't forgotten). His flying was not daring or controversial, but of style and poetry as if the pilot was part of the aeroplane and performed moves that just flowed from one move to another. I'm sure you were having lots of fun dancing through the air - this is just feedback." =- Richard King (Spitfire Buff)
